The Lineolated Parakeet. AKA: Catharine’s Parakeet, Barred Parakeet, Lineo, and Linnie . . . |
|||||||
| This little-known member of the parrot family is fast becoming
a very popular choice for bird enthusiasts. It is a smaller bird, comparable
in size to the Budgie, but unlike the other smaller parrots, the Linnie’s
playfulness, its curiosity, and its tendency to hold food and toys in its
feet make it far more parrot-like in behavior.
The Linnie can be further described as friendly, fun-loving, peaceful, non-destructive and—QUIET! A hand-raised Linnie has a better disposition than any other pet bird I am familiar with, and it doesn't require nearly as much human attention as most members of the parrot family to stay entertained, sweet, and friendly. It can peacefully live with other birds—either other Linnies, or other small birds, and still remain tame. For these reasons, Linnies make perfect pets for children. In summary, if you live in an apartment or have children, or if you just wish to have a great companion that will keep you entertained, a Lineolated Parakeet may be the best bird for you!
